Otto Werlin - Sport Builder - 2009

Hall
Otto Werlin is honored as a sport builder. In 1964 Otto began his career as the general manager of the Loveland Ski Area. During his 28-year tenure, Otto cultivated Loveland from a small ski area with only two chairlifts and a rope tow into a major area a boasting five chairs. He also opened Loveland Valley and introduced new snowmaking techniques to the state. As the ski industry boomed, Otto carved out a niche for Loveland in a competitive ski market. Sadly, Otto passed away on November 28, 2008, but under his leadership Loveland has gained a reputation as a local’s mountain for Front-Range skiers.  (Deceased)
